Kit
Canoeing is a water sport and there is a likelihood of getting wet. No specialist clothing is required initially, but it is vital to dress for appropriately for the conditions, especially during the winter months. Close fitting, quick drying clothing is best, avoid absorbent clothing such as jeans, heavy cotton tracksuits. Always bring a change of clothes and towel to change into after your sessions.
Winter kit
During the colder winter period a lot of training will move indoors to the gym and paddling machines. However, winter paddling generally consists of leggings, long sleeve thermal base layers, windproof cag or gillet, warm hat and pogies (think mittens that attach to the paddle shaft)
Club Kit
Our club identity is very important to us both when we are racing, representing Wey at events and our in community.
All members kayaking in official races are required to wear the official club colours in the form or a racing vest or top/gilet/cagoule (yellow/royal blue hoops)
A range of club branded items are available, but not compulsory, including the ever-popular WKC personalised hoodie.
Kayaking kit suppliers
In the warmer months most of the kit required is very similar to what you may wear to go running.
Specialist kit more suited to training in the colder months such as pogies and spray decks are available from a number of specialist suppliers.
